555 Howard

555 Howard is a highly anticipated luxury high rise development and hotel that will be completed in line with the Transbay Terminal project in 2019. The building will neighbor several other new additions to the neighborhood including Mira and The Avery San Francisco. The first 20 floors will contain a 210-room five-star hotel, while the 16 upper floors will offer 69 private condominiums for sale. The 36th floor will feature a public sky bar and garden on the roof.

As San Francisco’s first LEED Platinum residential high-rise, 555 Howard will lead the way in energy efficient design for the city. The building will feature a double curtain wall on the south and west facades to enhance solar performance, and automated shades will help reduce the building’s energy usage.

555 Howard was designed by Piano, Italy’s most well regarded architect and the designers behind the California Academy of Sciences and its landscaped green roof. The new building will feature an all-glass façade with integrated solar thermal capabilities. The building’s use of glass in its design made a strong impression on Planning Commissioners.
